Merging Files in Cargosnap

In Cargosnap, merging files is a simple process that allows you to combine data from two different files into one. This can be useful when you have multiple files with similar information that you want to consolidate into a single file. In this article, we will walk you through the steps of merging files in Cargosnap.

Step 1: Choose the Receiving File

To merge files in Cargosnap, you will first need to choose the file that you want to merge into. This file will be referred to as the "receiving file".

If you are unsure which file to choose as the receiving file, consider which file has the most complete or accurate information. This will ensure that your merged file contains the most up-to-date and accurate data.

Step 2: Edit the Reference

Merging files in CargoSnap is done through the Rename/Edit the Reference feature. To begin, open the file that you want to merge into and click on its reference. From there, you can edit the reference to match the reference code of the receiving file.

It is important to note that the receiving file must be open in order for the merge to be successful. Closed files cannot receive new data, which will result in the reference being renamed but not merged. For more information on opening and closing files,

Step 3: Confirm the Merge

Once you have edited the reference, you can confirm the merge and Cargosnap will take care of the rest. Your files will now be merged and the data from both files will be combined into the receiving file.

Special Case: Merging Files with the Same Reference

If you need to merge two files with the same reference, you will need to follow a slightly different process. First, edit the reference of the closed file to match the reference of the receiving file. However, instead of merging the file into itself, give it a unique temporary name (e.g. add an "x" to the end of the reference).

After doing this, rename the file once again and you will notice that it will now merge into the desired receiving file.

And that's it! You have successfully merged files in Cargosnap. If you have any further questions or need assistance with merging files, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team.
