Validate data that gets collected

We all make mistakes. Bummer. But we have checks and balances to avoid making such mistakes really costly. Cargosnap helps with "validation"

Updated over 9 months ago

Has it happened to you that you were working on a couple of shipments and ended up loading product into the wrong truck? Or you assumed a certain container was sealed with a seal with a certain id, only to find out later (detained container) that someone swapped seals? Costly!

If you know what container, seal, barcode, or any field should be handled in a file, Cargonap allows you to 'validate' that value. Sounds kinda interesting, but complex, doesn't it? Well, let's do an example! (too much to read? Look at the bottom of the page for a video!!).

Example case: seal validation

Imagine that you have a container export process that consists of these 3 steps:

  1. A container arrives empty at your facility, and with that, a seal is provided to close off the container after loading.

  2. Loading operations commence.

  3. The container is sealed with the aforementioned seal.

Now, imagine that in step 3 you want to "double-check" that in fact the same seal from step 1 has been used. Let's build that.

In Cargosnap, you may opt for 3 separate workflows to accomplish this (or just one, all on the specific conditions you have). So lets create these 3, looking much like:

Workflow 1: container receipt:

Workflow 2: container loading

This part is not all that relevant to the use case, so we will skip it. Imagine a process where you take photos before, during, and after loading, basically.

Workflow 3: container sealing and dispatch

Now - by enabling "Validate" in this step:

you just turned on a process whereby you validate that the same seal as collected in Workflow 1 is in fact used!

So, in the case the seal used to seal up the container is not identical to the seal used in the first step, a warning will be shown, and the operator of the Cargosnap app will not be able to proceed, until the error is corrected. This may avoid costly mistakes!

Note that while in this example we use a Seal, this functionality works on any field; so could be used for barcodes, container codes, license plates and more!
